QUALIFICATION OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

We determine the effect of active ingredients or formulations on the microbiota, both in its planktonic form and from the first stages of biofilm adhesion.

The accurate qualification of active ingredients is essential for the marketing of products and obtaining the scientific evidence necessary to demonstrate claims. At BioFilm Control, we innovate to achieve these qualifications by replicating as close as possible the actual conditions of use of the products. Our experts work hand in hand with customer teams to best meet market expectations.

Whether it is objectivising the effectiveness of an active component, evaluating a decontamination product used to eradicate resistant strains, analysing the antimicrobial character of a pharmaceutical molecule or coatings on medical devices, BioFilm Control offers its customers accurate results on the ability to act on the microbiota or the biofilm.

FORMULATION OPTIMISATION

We support our customers in determining the optimal formulations in order to ensure the desired activity on the microbiota.

The determination of the formulation is a major step in a product’s development. Whatever the field of application, it is imperative to accurately determine the concentration, as well as the frequency of application in order to demonstrate the harmlessness of a formulation on the microbiota, the restoration of healthy microbiota, the treatment of a biofilm, or the eradication of contamination.

Our experts are constantly innovating in order to offer customised tests and provide our customers with results that allow them to accurately define the end-use conditions of their products. These results will thus provide the scientific evidence for the desired claims.

MICROBIOTA FRIENDLY LABEL

In order to meet the needs for scientific evidence on the microbiota, we have created an offer to ensure the Microbiota Friendly activity of our customers’ active ingredients and formulations on a selection of key strains.

Demonstrating the healthy nature of a product for the microbiota is now an essential parameter in order to build consumer confidence, whatever the industry.

Based on our unique proprietary technology protected by 12 patents, the Ring Test®, as well as our proficiency in microbiology techniques, our experts have developed a Microbiota Friendly label which is the only one to take into account the biofilm behaviour of microorganisms involved in the formation and maintenance of the microbiota.

Beyond standard analyses, our innovative label demonstrates the Microbiota Friendly nature of any type of product on a selection of bacterial strains of different species. It sheds precise scientific light on cell viability thanks to results obtained under the conditions of use that are closest to reality. Applicable to any type of packaging, this label also provides a symbol of trust for consumers and represents a competitive advantage compared to other non-”Microbiota Friendly” products.

MICROBIOME FRIENDLY LABEL

Complementary to the Microbiota Friendly label, genomic analysis allows for the complete monitoring of all microbiota bacterial populations before and after treatment with active ingredients.
Obtaining accurate visibility of the evolution of a microbial population’s diversity following treatment is essential data for understanding the impact of a product on this ecosystem.
By integrating a genomic dimension, experts from BioFilm Control have developed the innovative Microbiome Friendly label in order to shed new light on the effect of an ingredient on the evolution of a microbial community. The results of this label come from studies carried out under conditions similar to the final conditions of use of the product.

Applicable to any type of packaging, this label provides proof at the molecular level of the healthy nature of a product on the microbiome and helps to reassure the consumer in their desire to preserve their microbiome. This label also represents a competitive advantage compared to other non-Microbiome Friendly products.

ANTIMICROBIAL TREATMENT

We help our customers to identify the precise concentration and the specific molecule in order to prevent the formation of a biofilm or to eliminate a biofilm that has already formed.

In industrial hygiene, the formation of biofilm is the source of recurrent contamination and forms of resistance to treatment which can lead to significant production losses. In the agri-food industry, the formation of biofilm is the source of foodborne infections. Finally, in Health, the establishment of bacteria in a biofilm lifestyle is the cause of chronic infections.

By attacking the biofilm, we eradicate microbe resistance mechanisms and enable antimicrobial treatments to regain their effectiveness.

An expert in the analysis of bacteria biofilm behaviour, BioFilm Control supports its customers in the development of their antimicrobial solutions and the resolution of recurring contamination issues.

Our team of scientists is constantly innovating in order to offer new study models and increasingly customised services to respond precisely to the problems encountered by our customers.

The results provided by BioFilm Control thus make it possible:

  • to attest to the antibiofilm nature of specific molecules or coatings
  • to definitively eradicate the source of recurring contamination

This data constitutes the cornerstone of projects dedicated to the identification and development of bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal solutions.

DIAGNOSTIC SOLUTIONS

With our expertise in the development of a clinical diagnostic test, we develop tailor-made solutions for the diagnosis of microbiota.

The development of diagnostic solutions is a long, complex and costly process, which requires precision, reliability and agility.

BioFilm Control developed the Antibiofilmogramme® clinical diagnostic test, which is the only test that enables the selection of antibiotics that act on the biofilm for the treatment of chronic infections. By capitalising on this experience in the clinical field, BioFilm Control offers support to its customers in the development of diagnostic solutions for pathogenic strains.

Our team of experts provides customised, enriching and high value-added support, enabling our customers to bring breakthrough innovations to the market for their diagnostic solutions.

CUSTOMISED SUPPORT

Our customers’ issues are unique. In order to best meet their needs, we customise our study protocols and models.

At BioFilm Control, support and service are key and our customers come to us not only for reliable, fast and accurate results, but also for advice, recommendations for new avenues to explore and dialogue between experts in order to continually improve the effectiveness of their products.

An engineering project manager or Doctor in microbiology is assigned to each of our customer projects to ensure its implementation and monitoring:

  • We establish a tailor-made study plan by working with the customer teams to arrive at an agreement on the expectations, constraints and specific requirements and to find the best compromise between needs, deliverables, timing and budget.
  • The BioFilm Control project manager informs the customer of the progress of the services and dialogues with him in order to find solutions to the difficulties encountered.
  • Study reports and results tables are tailored to the needs of our customers to help them answer their research, regulatory filing and efficiency qualification questions.
