Hygiene in food processing

Hygiene in food processing

Bacterial infections in production plants can arise even when a disinfection treatment has been carefully applied. One of the main causes of this plea is the ability of bacteria to form biofilms. However, Bacteria are not equal in their ability to form biofilms. Even within given species, different strains display highly different biofilm forming capacities. And because bacteria are prone to large genetic flexibility and evolve quickly, the biofilm formation capacity is different in different micro-environments.

In order to minimize the occurrence of infection, it is necessary to understand the interplay between micro-environments and biofilms.

At BioFilm Control we have developed the technology and the service that will make the difference. The BioFilm Ring Test allows us to measure biofilms:

  • How fast they form
  • How strong they are
  • How they resistant or sensitive they are in regards to a particular treatment

Thanks to in-depth knowledge of the interplay between bacteria and the microenvironment, it will be possible to optimize the production chain in order to minimize the risk of infection, increase the availability of your production unit and increase its profitability and reliability.
